Drinking Water Impact DURING CHLORINATION WATER TREATMENT, BROMOBENZENE CAN BE FORMED IN SMALL QUANTITIES HAS BEEN FOUND IN FINISHED WATER IN LOWER MISSISSIPPI RIVER AREA EFFL: ORGANIC CONSTITUENTS OF SECONDARY EFFLUENTS FROM PUBLICLY-OWNED TREATMENT WORKS IN ILLINOIS WERE ANALYZED BY CAPILLARY GAS CHROMATOGRAPHY-MASS SPECTROSCOPY. EMPHASIS WAS GIVEN TO SECONDARY EFFLUENTS FROM MUNICIPAL TREATMENT PLANTS RECEIVING INDUSTRIAL DISCHARGES AS PART OF THE INFLUENT. BROMOBENZENE WAS DETECTED IN ONE COMPOSITE SAMPLE FROM THE FIRST MANHOLE DOWNSTREAM OF A TREATMENT PROCESS.
