How to make your natural lip balm?

Dry lips, chapped lips, burning lips… It is important to take care of them, hence the importance of applying a moisturizer on occasion.
As I often have dry lips myself, I present to you my best homemade lip balm recipes.
1. Homemade Honey Lip Balm Recipe
In winter when it’s cold, it’s all the more important to take care of your lips and one way to do this is by preparing your own protective lip balm.
For this first lip balm recipe you need:
- 1 teaspoon of quality organic honey
- 1 tablespoon of shea butter
- 1 teaspoon sweet almond oil
- 1 teaspoon of beeswax
Now, here is how to prepare this natural balm:
- Heat the honey, almond oil, shea butter and beeswax in a bain-marie.
- Once the ingredients have melted, remove from the heat, let cool and mix well to make the mixture homogeneous.
- Pour the mixture into a container (a container) of your choice with an airtight lid and let it harden for a day.
I recommend you to use this lip balm when your lips are dry and chapped. Oops, I forgot, you can add 2 to 4 drops of vitamin E to moisturize and make your lips smooth and soft.
2. Make a lip balm with coconut oil
As you will notice, the recipes are a bit similar, but some ingredients differ like this coconut oil recipe.
List of ingredients to make this coconut oil recipe:
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 4 drops coconut extract
- 1 teaspoon of beeswax
- 1 tablespoon of shea butter
- 2 drops of vitamin E
Here’s how to make this natural lip care:
- Using a double boiler, melt together the shea butter, beeswax and coconut oil.
- Remove from the heat, mix all the ingredients well and add the coconut extract and vitamin E.
- Pour the mixture into a container (glass if possible) and keep it in the fridge.
As for the honey lip balm, this recipe is also recommended to take care of dry lips and even lips that burn.
3. Olive Oil Lip Balm Recipe
If you prefer to make a simple and quick lip balm recipe requiring only 2 ingredients then here is an easy one to make:
- Heat over very low heat in a bain-marie 1 tablespoon of beeswax and 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil.
- Mix well to make the mixture homogeneous and pour into a container or better into an old lipstick.
- Let the mixture harden and apply to your lips to hydrate them as needed.
As with the previous recipes, you can add a few drops of vitamin E for the care of your lips.
