What to eat and drink during gastro?

Other than sparkling water you can also drink a small glass of 7 UP or Sprite a few times a day. This fizzy drink will make you feel better quickly, temporarily, but at least you’ll feel good for a few minutes.

3. Turmeric against gastro
Did you know that turmeric is a spice with a thousand and one virtues and therefore a good ally to avoid catching gastro?

You can therefore add a little turmeric to your daily diet or take turmeric tablets that you will find in natural stores or online.
4. Eat rice when you have gastro
You have gastro and spend your time vomiting, having diarrhea and therefore going to the toilet? It is therefore very important to stay hydrated but also to eat a little to regain strength quickly. A food to favor when you have gastro is rice.

7. NO to dairy products when you have gastro!

Indeed dairy products such as milk or cheese for example are sometimes more difficult to digest. It is therefore advisable to avoid this type of product when you suffer from gastro, nausea or simple occasional diarrhoea.

We often voluntarily stop eating for fear of being even more ill and for fear of vomiting more and more. You really have to avoid this reflex of not eating.
So if you feel able to swallow something light, you should not deprive yourself of it by this fear. Your system still needs to eat, otherwise you risk being even weaker and therefore being sick for even longer.

9. A grandmother’s remedy for gastro

Anti-vomiting remedy:
- Take a teaspoon of honey.
- Take a piece of ginger root (not too small, not too big).
- Chew everything to quickly calm vomiting.

10. Rest and avoid stress
Whether it’s gastro or other ailments such as a cold or the flu, for example, it is very important to rest to recover and thus succeed in treating yourself more quickly. And since lack of sleep can result in higher stress than usual, it is all the more important to rest.
Indeed, being stressed makes our stomach even more anxious, so in case of gastro it is better to avoid overwork to reduce the risk of diarrhea and vomiting.

11. Disinfect your hands at all times!
How can you keep the gastro virus away if you never take the time to wash and disinfect your hands and objects in the house?
If you work in a daycare, school, hospital or anywhere else where there are a lot of people who may be sick then don’t take any chances and wash your hands VERY often!
Same thing at home with your own family. If your youngest has gastro, disinfect your hands but also everyday objects such as door handles, bathroom faucet, toilet bowl, faucets, etc.
Also avoid giving kisses, hugs and handshakes during the holidays. The holidays are the best time to catch gastro and other unwanted viruses.
12. Lots of patience
Gastro can’t really be cured with medication, unfortunately. There are no miracle anti-gastro remedies either, but rather several little tips and homemade recipes that can help you feel better or even to avoid catching it.
So you have to be patient and wait for it to pass. Normally it can take 2-3 days to feel a little better. And since it is easily transmitted, it is better to take this time to stay quiet at home. No need to go to your family celebrations because you risk contaminating all the people you meet.
